Mon, 25 June 2012 My Transsexual Wedding We have had this lovely letter from Nina at Electric Sky... I'm working for a TV Production Company called Electric Sky and am contacting you about a new documentary series that I'm researching which I wondered if you could offer your advice on.
Last year, a series aired called 'My Transsexual Summer' which was met with a warm reception from viewers, the transgender community and those who contributed to the series.
A potential new series 'My Transsexual Wedding' would aim to continue the respectful and un-sensationalist tone of 'My Transsexual Summer' but focus on couples, one of whom is transgender, and who are planning to marry.
The programme would offer a portrait of the day to day challenges the couples experience and allow them to tell their stories. The arrangements of the wedding and the day itself would offer a framework around which to tell their stories. The series would aim to de-stigmatise this subject area with an honest and intelligent approach.
I appreciate the transgender community often are, quite rightfully, suspicious of their representation in the media but I believe this series would have a positive effect by allowing people to tell their stories while highlighting the challenges as well as celebrating the wedding/ civil partnership.

Thu, 12 January 2012 Facial Feminisation Expert to visit London/Dublin Dr. Spiegel and I are pleased to confirm that we will be visiting London on 18 February 2012 and Dublin on 19 February 2012 to present a lecture on Facial Feminization Surgery. We will also be offering complimentary consultations for those interested in talking about future surgery. Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel is a professor and surgeon at Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts and his FFS specialty caters specifically to the transgender community with a private office in Boston's beautiful Chestnut Hill. In his lecture, Dr. Spiegel discusses the goals and methods of facial feminization surgery (FFS). The discussion includes differences in the facial anatomy of males and females, theories in gender recognition and feminization, the key changes in transforming the perceived gender of the face and the surgical techniques used during surgery. Dr. Spiegel will review what procedures are available, how to maximize results, minimize risks, and how new technologies and medical advances have allowed for improving structural changes to bone allowing patients to experience a faster and more comfortable recovery. Full forehead reconstruction with bossing to the orbital rim, mandible shaving and sliding genioplasty, rhinoplasty, cheek augmentation, upper lip reconstruction, browlift and scalp advancement are most commonly performed during these feminization procedures. Trachea shave, blepharoplasty and rhytidectomy are also regular procedures performed during the feminization surgery. Post-operative photos will be reviewed during the discussion. Dr. Spiegel will be happy to address any questions from the audience following his presentation. Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel is Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Boston Medical Center and holds academic appointments in the Departments of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and Plastic Surgery at the Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He performs approximately two feminization surgeries a week (approx. 120/year). Mon, 17 October 2011 URGENT: Photo Session and Interview g3 Magazine (the monthly publication for lesbians and bisexuals) are in the midst of putting together an article which focuses on challenging stereotypes and preconceptions of gender for their November issue. The article will be mainly photo led, with a follow up discussion online at their website. The idea behind the article is to present photos of real people then reveal whether they are gay, bisexual, trans, straight etc. It's a light hearted look at our initial visual perceptions of people and they would love your help with it! They are looking for a trans girl who would be willing to be photographed and take part in a short interview. Unfortunately as with most publications on a deadline, this is very short notice and they would need a trans girl for this Saturday 22nd October.
